NPP Is Under the Influence of Familialism

Since the Catholic Church does not accept all the investigations conducted so far regarding the Easter attack, I request President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to conduct a fair and acceptable investigation to deliver justice to the Catholic people, said former Member of Parliament Nimal Lanza.

He made these remarks while participating in a press conference in Wellaweediya, Negombo.

He further commented:

“Our aim is to serve as a strong opposition. While the National People’s Power (NPP) should be given power in this election, a strong opposition is also necessary. The NPP has not delivered on what was promised to the people. The public, especially the youth, believed in a change. However, the NPP is giving positions to those who were on the stage, not to those who are talented or deserving. The change that young people expected has not occurred. While young people are being given a place, there is no proper representation of them in the nominations—it’s the same old faces.

In the last term, the election lawyer spoke against familialism. However, now we see fathers, sons, mothers, and daughters coming forward under the NPP banner. Even though young people voted for the NPP with great hope, the expected change has not taken place.”
