A news is reported from Aluthgama Kaluavamoda that young men riding a high-speed jetski rescued a novice who was being swept away by the waves while swimming in the sea.
The survivor is a 12-year-old layman named Theranama, who lives in a temple in Kandy. When the same monk came to Aluthgama area along with several other monks, they had an accident while swimming in Moragolla area.
Eyewitnesses say that two youths who were engaged in water sports chased the monk with two high-speed jetskis and rescued him when they saw the monk floating in the sea.
The novices have suffered minor injuries after hitting a rock.
