It is reported that Trincomalee Magistrate M.N.M. Samsudeen has issued a notice to a monk named Balangoda Kassapa today (24) to appear before the court before December 10.
The police had reported the facts to the court regarding this monk after he refused to give a statement to the police regarding the incident that occurred while he was going to install a Buddha statue on a land belonging to the Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi Viharaya in Trincomalee.
Submitting a B report to the court, the Trincomalee Port Police have stated that they attempted to obtain a statement from the hospitalized Balangoda Kassapa monk with medical permission regarding the unrest that erupted on the 16th, but the monk refused.
