Sri Lanka Cricket has officially announced the 15-member T20 squad for the Asian Games men’s cricket tournament; a notable inclusion is wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella.
Niroshan Dickwella has been recalled to the national squad after a five-year hiatus, while Ashen Bandara has also been named to the team after a three-year absence; both players are set to participate in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan.
Sahan Arachchige has been appointed captain of the squad, while Sohan de Livera, Sineth Jayawardena, Vanuja Sahan, and Garuka Sanketh are newcomers receiving their first-ever call-ups to a T20 squad.
The Sri Lankan team, having qualified for the quarter-finals of the Asian Games, is scheduled to depart for Japan on September 24 and will play its first match at Nissin on September 29. Sahan Arachchige, Sohan de Livera, Vanuja Sahan, Niroshan Dickwella, Ashen Bandara, Dushan Hemantha, Lasith Croospulle, Chamika Karunaratne, Nuwan Thushara, Sineth Jayawardena, Tharindu Ratnayake, Binura Fernando, Nuwanidu Fernando, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, and Garuka Sanketh have been named in the T20 squad for this series.
