Nepal lifts social media ban after 19 deaths

The Nepalese government has lifted a ban on social media in the country. The ban was imposed following a court ruling and sparked widespread public opposition.

The ban banned unregistered social media sites in the country. Nepalese people began a protest against the ban, which quickly escalated into violent clashes.

Thousands of people have been gathering near the parliament building in Kathmandu since yesterday, following a demand made by protesters who identify themselves as Generation Z.

As the protests escalated, clashes broke out between protesters and police, resulting in 19 deaths and over 100 injuries.

In light of this situation, the Nepalese government lifted the ban on social media networks in a decision taken at midnight yesterday.

Nepal’s Minister of Communications, Information and Broadcasting, Prithvi Subba Gurung, announced that the government had withdrawn its earlier decision to ban social media websites.
