A Navy soldier was arrested in possession of a T56 firearm during an operation conducted in the Ilukhena area this morning by the Navy and Kuliyapitiya Police.
It has been revealed that the firearm recovered during the operation conducted at a house in the Galpola area of Ilukhena is a firearm that went missing from the Ranwala Camp armory at the Colombo Port in 2021, and that he was in charge of the store at that time.
After being arrested, the soldier was taken to the Welisara Navy Camp for further investigation and then handed over to the Kuliyapitiya Police for further investigation.
