The overall result of the 2024 parliamentary general election held yesterday has been released. There, the National People’s Power has won 159 seats. Accordingly, the National People’s Force has succeeded in establishing the government by obtaining a two-thirds majority in the same election.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya has become the main opposition by getting 40 seats. Among the other parties, the Ilankei Tamil Arasu Katchi Party has managed to win 8 seats and the New Democratic Front 5 seats. Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna got 3 seats, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress got 3 seats and United National Party got 1 seat. The Sarvajana Bhakti party also has one seat from the national list.
