Music shows banned inside buses.

The government has taken steps to introduce a new set of regulations to prevent the harassment of passengers due to the playing of loud music or other audio-visual media in buses providing public transport services.

The Central Environmental Authority points out that the work of preparing the necessary legal framework for this has now reached the final stage.

Commenting on this new program, the Director General of the Authority said that previously there was no adequate set of regulations in place to control noise pollution caused by the use of loudspeakers in buses.

He also said that once the newly formulated regulations are passed, the authorities will be able to strictly enforce the law against vehicles that emit noise exceeding the prescribed standards.
