MPs are given two firearms.

Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena says that the government has decided to give the right to get two firearms for money to the parliamentary ministers.

Those firearms are to be given so that they can be owned after losing the position of MP.

In this regard, the Minister stated this while answering a question asked by a journalist at the press conference announcing the Cabinet decisions today (27).

“We know that the violence that occurred during and after the last struggle turned into the worst black spot in the history of Sri Lanka. A Member of Parliament was tortured and killed en masse, and the houses of 72 members of the legislature were set on fire within 12 hours.

After that, a massive conspiracy to create an anarchy by burning and destroying the parliament was carried out. In Bangladesh, 26 MPs were killed in this incident. I do not believe that such a situation will not exist now. Because the violence has continuously increased in the past. Therefore, the government has taken a decision to give the right to get two firearms for money to be able to own after losing the position of MP.
