The Police Department says that the government spends 1.1 billion rupees annually on the security of former presidents.
The largest amount of this money is spent on the security of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. It is close to 326 million rupees per year. In addition, police officers and armed forces personnel are also deployed for the security of former presidents.
