The monthly lease installment to be paid by Sri Lankan Airlines for its new Airbus aircraft leased from France is $275,000, Transport Minister Bimal Ratnayake said in Parliament today (05).
He further stated that it is not a large amount when compared to the income earned from the Airbus aircraft.
The Minister pointed out that Sri Lankan Airlines is still paying US$800,000 monthly due to the Airbus deal during the Rajapaksa regime, and that Sri Lankan Airlines did not receive an Airbus from that deal.
He further said that the Rajapaksa government defrauded millions from the Airbus deal, and the Ranil Wickremesinghe government defrauded by canceling that deal.
