Ministers demand bribes from two investors

Former ministers have reportedly demanded bribes from South Korean and Australian investors who came to the country during previous governments.

The South Korean and Australian ambassadors in the country have officially complained to Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath that as a result, they abandoned their investments in the country and took those investments to India and Vietnam.

South Korean Ambassador Myeon Lee and Australian High Commissioner Paul Steven, who met Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath recently, had submitted these complaints.

The South Korean ambassador had further stated that an investor from his country had won the open tender called to transport fuel from Muthurajawela to Katunayake Airport through a pipeline, but for unknown reasons, permission was not given to implement the project.
