Minister Prasanna’s appeal to be heard from April 30

Minister Prasanna Ranatunga was found guilty in the case of trying to extort 640 lakh rupees from a businessman to provide necessary facilities to reclamation of a swamp in Meethotamulla while he was working as the Chief Minister of the Western Province, and the Colombo High Court sentenced him to two years with hard labour. The court imposed a prison sentence and suspended the sentence for five years.

The Court of Appeal announced today that the appeal filed by Minister Prasanna Ranatunga against the decision will be heard on the 30th of April and the 3rd of May.
