Minister Manusha intervenes to save Sri Lankans trapped in Israel.

The Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara, says that although Israel is involved in an unfortunate war, the Sri Lankan government is serious about the Sri Lankans living there. In Colombo today, the media minister mentioned that he has already started dealing with the security of Sri Lankans in conflict areas through diplomacy.

“So far, we have started negotiations with the Israeli government. In addition, they are negotiating with the International Red Cross Organization to place the Sri Lankans in their custody in the provinces where there are conflicts. Disturbing information has been received about two Sri Lankan workers. But none of these have been properly confirmed. This is the situation when there is a war,” said the minister.

He said that Sri Lankans living in war-free areas can also come to Sri Lanka at their own will, and that no help from an outside party is necessary for that. The minister said that there is no war situation especially in the vicinity of Tel Aween but there is no obstacle for those who want to come back.

He said that the embassies are open for the Sri Lankans caught in the conflict in Israel and a WhatsApp number has been activated to get information.

However, the minister emphasized that the Israeli government has informed him that the Sri Lankans in the country are safe.
