“New Year in Paradise 2023” was held yesterday at Unawatuna beach under the paeticipetion of the Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara, giving the foreign tourists visiting the country the experience of local cultural aspects related to the New Year. Foreign tourists participated in the New Year festival which included many folk games and cultural elements related to the New Year.
New Year games were organized for the foreigners like breaking the kana muttiya, eyeing the elephant,, eating buns, and foreigners participated in those competitions with great interest.
Tourists could be seen eagerly participating in the New Year Prince and Princess selection competition. The New Year Prince and Princess were awarded air tickets to and from Singapore by SriLankan Airlines. Apart from this, special appreciation prizes were awarded to the contestants who appeared in the competition dressed in local attire.
