Transport Minister Bandhula Gunawardena says that even though the government is trying to recover the railway department, the people are being inconvenienced due to the employees going on strikes even for very small incidents.
He also mentioned that there are continuous requests from the public to privatize the railway service as a solution to the existing situation. The minister added that the cabinet has already approved the appointment of a committee to present proposals for the restructuring of the railway department.
