The Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Association says that the storage of beef, goat and pork for sale and the slaughter of animals for meat have been banned in the Mannar district for a week from yesterday (03).
The president of the association, Pradeep Boralessa, says that due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions, a large number of farm animals including cattle died in the Mannar district and this decision was taken with the aim of preventing the meat of those animals from reaching the market for human consumption.
