“Massacre of Sri Lankan family, scared Canada,” says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he was shocked and horrified to hear of the massacre of a Sri Lankan family in Ottawa, calling it a truly horrific act of violence.

Police Chief Eric Stubbs, who is investigating the incident, said it was a shameless act of violence against innocent people. However, he further states that the officers quickly identified the suspect and arrested him without any protest.

35-year-old Darshanee Dilanthika Ekanayake and her four children, seven-year-old Inuka Wickramasinghe, four-year-old Ashwini Wickramasinghe, two-year-old Rinana Wickramasinghe and two-month-old Kelly Wickramasinghe, who were born in Canada, have been killed. Apart from this, Gamini Amarakon, the 40-year-old man who lived with the family, was also killed by the killer. The children’s father, Dhanushka Wickramasinghe, was also injured and was taken to hospital with serious injuries. But hospital sources said that his condition is getting stable.

A 19-year-old Sri Lankan student named Febrio de Soyza has been arrested by the police in connection with this murder. He lived with that family. He has been charged with six counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. Detective Chief Inspector Eric Stubbs said an “edged weapon” was used in the crime. This
