Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP S.M. Marikkar says he intends to file a criminal case against the government for the suffering and loss of life caused to the people due to the current disaster situation in Sri Lanka.
Addressing a media briefing held yesterday, he said that the disaster situation is as serious as the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
“Similar to the criminal case filed against the Rajapaksas for bankrupting the nation, we are filing a case against the current government as every citizen who died in the disaster is responsible. Despite receiving early warnings of the disaster, the government did not take the necessary steps. We are filing a case in this regard,” he said.
