Necessary Commodity Importers Association spokesperson Nihal Seneviratne told the media that measures will be taken to import 50,000 metric tons of kiri samba before the 21st of next year. He further mentioned that the rice stocks are expected to arrive in Sri Lanka by the third week of this month.
01 kg of imported kiri samba is expected to be sold at a price of 235 rupees.
Minister of Trade Nalin Fernando said that the Cabinet has approved the importation of 50000 kilograms of Keeri Samba and that a shipment of Keeri Samba rice is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka today (02) or tomorrow (03).
