Applications are invited for the enrollment of students for medical degree in Kotalawala Defense University on payment basis.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Defense says that civilian applicants will have the opportunity to apply for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree until May 05.

The official Facebook page of Kotalawala Defense University has stated that the following qualifications are required to apply for the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree.
- Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
- Age should be not less than 17 years and not more than 24 years as on the last date of receipt of applications.
- Qualified for university entrance with at least two credit passes (C) and one average pass (S) in biology, chemistry and physics in the subject stream of Biology in the year 2022. or a
- Cambridge/Edexcel A/L or equivalent exam results in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in the year 2023 with at least two “C” grades and one D grade under foreign education qualification. having received
- All the above examination results must be obtained in one sitting and the examination can be appeared for a maximum of three times only.
- G.E.C. (A/L) Passed in General Common Examination (Minimum Marks – 30)
- . It is mandatory to have obtained an award (C) pass in the English language in the G.E.C O/L examination or a “C” pass in the English language subject in the Cambridge / Edexcel General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examination under the foreign education qualification.
- Must be unmarried.
Previously, local students had the opportunity to study medicine at the university only by joining the armed forces or the police as a cadet officer, and for foreign qualified students only on the basis of payment.
