JVP is the audience, not the voters

Tissa Attanayake, Member of Parliament of the People’s Force, said that although the JVP has a large audience, it does not have voters. Commenting further, he said that it is regrettable that the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna has not been able to enter into a realistic political process so far.

“I see Janata Vimukti as a party that tells stories, they tell interesting stories. They have not come to a realistic political process. I don’t know if they remember history. But the people of the country know their history. They have been telling beautiful stories since 4 decades. No one believed their stories.

That is the reality of history. They do not have a program that has won people’s trust. And they represented the government, but what did they do for the people.”
