Jayanthi, who conquered Mount Everest, challenges Mount Matterhorn in Switzerland

Jayanthi Kuruuthumpala, the Sri Lankan mountain climbing champion who conquered Mount Everest, which is considered to be the highest mountain in the world, will leave on the 28th of this month to climb the Matterhorn, the highest mountain in Switzerland.

Standing majestically on the Italian-Swiss border, Mount Matterhorn in the Alps is known as a very difficult mountain to climb. Practical experience and technical tools are equally important for climbing Mount Matterhorn , which consists of layers of rock and ice.

With almost two decades of experience in mountain climbing, Jayanthi is an experienced mountaineer who has climbed the highest mountains in over ten countries around the world, including the Pyrenees of Spain and the Andes of Argentina. Having successfully completed a four-week mountaineering course conducted by the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute of India, she is an expert climber with expertise in glacier rescue and first aid at high peaks and trekking planning.

She is an activitist for women’s rights and she is doing her Matterahorn climb with the theme “climb like a girl”. SAGT,  Würth Lanka , Hemas Mobility, Dentsu Grant, GPR . In addition, Jayanthi says that Ruveni and friends from the Swiss Alpine Club are also supporting her in this difficult task.
