Jailor arrested for supplying drugs to Magazine Prison.

A prison guard has been arrested by the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau on suspicion of supplying drugs to the Borella Magazine Prison. 100 grams of ice and 20 grams of heroin have also been seized from his possession, the value of which is said to be close to Rs. 2 million.

A 32-year-old resident of Dehiwala Medical Road was first arrested in the Mount Lavinia area with this drug stock.

During the interrogation of him, the police were able to uncover information about a person serving a sentence at the Magazine Prison and several others, and were also able to obtain information about a person on Borella Wanatha Road who was supposed to deliver the drug parcel next.

Accordingly, a plan has been prepared to arrest the person under the leadership of the OIC of the Mount Lavinia Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau. At that time, a person dressed in prison sportswear approached the suspect and tried to take the parcel containing the drugs, and the officers led by the OIC who were waiting nearby took steps to arrest the suspect.

It is stated that the arrested guard was a person who joined the prison service last January and had previously been working at the Welikada Prison. Further investigations have been initiated by the Mount Lavinia Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau in this regard.
