It was the JVP that introduced the system of not working to the public service.

Former United Republic Front leader and MP Champika Ranawaka said that Bolshevik Party which is at Pelawatte party headquarters, there is an attempt to bring the to the Presidential Office and the Prime Minister’s Office . Addressing a media conference in Colombo, he made the following comments

”Our Minister Lalkantha had said, Minister Sunil Handunnetti had said, that public service officials will not be allowed to work. But Lalkantha’s story is a bit serious. He had said that a tsunami will be brought to the public service.

There are corrupt people in the public service, there are inefficient people. There are lazy people. But this is not what I was talking about. This is about the entire public service. There are several aspects to this. One. While these people were carrying out their ministerial duties, they lived as full-time JVP cadres. Now they have to operate within the state machinery.

They were in a small fish tank before. Now they have fallen into a big lake. Then difficulties will definitely arise. The rules and regulations that were in that fish tank are not the same as they are now. The public service has administrative regulations, financial regulations. They are not part of party discipline. So, because they cannot act according to them, they cannot adjust certain things now. Then the easiest thing is to blame the officials who have said that every government has said that. That is normal.

But who brought this culture to this country? It was the JVP, including the JVP, that brought this tradition of striking the public service in this country and challenging the administration in the past sixty years.

Now I remember when we went to the petrolium Corporation and brought a motivational team to modernize the refinery of the petrolium Corporation and to inspire the officers of that refinery, the trade union leader of the JVP playing carom .

What did they do when the five power plants owned by the diesel mafia that had been swallowed by the Ceylon Electricity Board were closed, the trade union of the JVP went and stood on the steps, not letting us go. That is how they used to obstruct the ministers from working. We did not go to the police. They said they were pressuring us. We did not even go to the CID and file a complaint.

A culture has been created in this country to not work, to strike, right from the universities. The leader of that is Lalkantha. He is a leader who does not work. Even when the country was at war, a general strike was called in 2007. The country is engaged in a war, the L. T. T. E. is defeated. That is why they are facing the culture they created today.

There is a more dangerous undercurrent. What is it? Something we warned about. Is this an attempt to politicize state institutions by keeping only those who are close to them in these state institutions. Because we have been informed that these commissioners have such a tendency to transfer, send to the pool, and send home those who do not listen to their orders. Then is this an attempt to do that.

We are saying very clearly that the mandate given to Mr. Anura Dissanayake and Mrs. Harini Amarasuriya was to form the state in accordance with the Constitution, as well as our administrative regulations and financial regulations, and not to give a mandate to a Bolshevik party to seize the state.

About 80% of those in the state service voted for these people. There was a lot of confidence in that vote. That they would be able to work independently. Professionals voted in these institutions, thinking that professionals have some independence. But now we see that it is going in a different direction, it is a dangerous situation.

Please, the President should intervene to prevent it. Those statements that Lalkantha makes occasionally are not fake stories or something that happened because he made a mistake. They are very organized and are his future plans that he is putting out.
