Model Piumi Hansamali, who is said to have earned crores of rupees in a short period of time, has been dealing with a large-scale drug trafficker for many years, said Chief Inspector Sampath Rajakaruna, OIC of the CID’s Illegal Assets Investigation Division, while presenting evidence before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
The OIC presented these facts when a motion filed by model Piumi Hansamali was called before the court, alleging that officers of the Illegal Assets Investigation Division were obstructing her business by recording statements from customers who buy the beauty culture products she sells.
The OIC further stated that the drug trafficker is currently indicted by the Colombo High Court, and that reasonable suspicion has arisen regarding her based on the fact that the remanded suspect gave ten million rupees to Piumi Hansamali, the BMW registered in her name is still at the trafficker’s house, and Hansamali has obtained a twenty million rupees lease facility for the said vehicle.
The OIC further stated that she has sold creams to 34,786 customers and that these investigations are being conducted to determine whether they are indeed creams or something else.
This motion was summoned before Colombo Additional Magistrate Manjula Ratnayake.
