Minister of State for Defense Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon says that Member of Parliament Diana Gamage is entering Parliament from the national list of the Samagi Jana Balavega, and it is the Samagi Jana Balavega that recommended her to the Election Commissioner as a national list MP.
He also said that she will lose her membership as a result of a political conflict with the Samagi Jana Balawega after her appointment to Parliament.
The Minister of State stated this during the debate on the presentation of the Economic Transformation Bill and the Public Finance Management Bill to Parliament.
State Minister Pramitha Bandara Tennakona who also spoke there was further to say,
I was surprised to see some of the points presented by the opposition in this debate. I have not tried to get into trouble with anyone, speak against anyone, or even accuse my friend by name. In the time I get in Parliament, I work to present my opinions and ideas. However, it is my duty and responsibility to present this matter to the country and to Parliament, Honorable Chairman.
S.J.B continued to allege that a female parliamentarian was illegally detained. Did we appoint Mrs. Diana Gamage as a Member of Parliament from the national list? Now this S.J.B is trying to attack us. I am tabling the letter sent by the Secretary General of Samagi Jana Balavegaya to Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya, Chairman of the Election Commission.
This letter was sent on the letterhead of Samagi Jana Balawegaya on December 8, 2020, to the address of the Election Commission in Rajagiriya. It was signed by the General Secretary of S.J.B.
