Foreign Ministry sources say that the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Ibrahim Raisi, is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka on April 24 for an official visit. He is going to inaugurate the Umaoya multi-purpose development project built with the help of Iran during his visit.
Funded by Sri Lanka and Iran, the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project will add 120 MW of electricity to Sri Lanka’s national grid. In addition, it is planned to irrigate nearly 25,000 acres of paddy fields.
