Sudatta Thilakasiri had alleged that Iraj Weeraratne had earned crores of rupees by organizing the ‘Smart Youth’ concert series jointly organized by former Minister Harin Fernando and the National Youth Services Council.
Denying these allegations, Iraj Weeraratne said that the allegations should be proven within two weeks. He said that if the corruption allegations against him are proven, he is ready to run naked in the Pelawatte area.
He also stated that if Suda fails to prove the accusations against him, he should also accept the challenge.
Iraj clarified that he was not an organizer of the concert series in question and that he had only contributed by singing at two places including Maharagama at the invitation of the National Youth Services Council.
He further emphasized that he received less money than he normally charges for young people there, and that the allegations against him are baseless.
