Information received six months ago about the drug trafficking carried out by the monks was ignored.

Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero says that although intelligence information regarding the arrest of a group of monks with the largest amount of drugs in the history of the Katunayake Airport was received by the security forces six months ago, it was ignored.

He said this while participating in a discussion with an online channel regarding this large-scale trafficking.

The security forces were informed about this drug network and the people running it through a young man who was in prison in October 2025, and the Thero says that an Englishman named Nicky Frech, who runs a drug factory in Thailand, is the head of this trafficking.

The Englishman, who is currently in Sri Lanka, had previously met the young man who provided intelligence information while he was in prison in Sri Lanka, and this information was revealed there, according to Gnanasara Thero.

The activities of the current secretary of the All Ceylon Sasanarakshaka Balamandala are questionable, and several foreign countries have banned him for theft, according to Gnanasara Hikoyo. Thero alleges that he has intervened in sending groups of monks abroad, including the 22 monks currently under arrest.
