The President has submitted the names of four qualified auditors to the Constitutional Council as stipulated in the Constitution, but the Council has consistently rejected them, said Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa. This shows that they are deliberately trying to sabotage the state machinery or the state process, he added.
He said this in response to a question raised by a journalist regarding the day-to-day delay in the appointment of an Auditor General.
He said that the President has presented the qualified persons to be appointed as the Auditor General in accordance with the powers vested in the President in the Constitution on all four occasions.
