IMF risks of leaving Sri Lanka .

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe said that there is a risk of the International Monetary Fund leaving Sri Lanka.

Although the International Monetary Fund had informed that the revision of the electricity tariff adjustment fee based on the income should be completed by March 31, the former President said that it is a problematic situation that the proposal has not been implemented.

Accordingly, although it was possible to receive $ 344 million as the fifth installment under the Extended Credit Facility Program during the first two weeks of April, he also said that the receipt of that amount will be delayed further due to the continued delay in implementing the proposals submitted by the International Monetary Fund.

The former President stated that due to the failure to submit the electricity tariff adjustment fee so far, it will take time to receive the approval of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund to receive $ 344 million.

He also pointed out that the allocation of funds for development projects by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank is also at risk due to these issues.

Minister of Labor and Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, while holding a media briefing at the Government Information Department recently, stated that by June, certain issues in the electricity bill assumptions have been resolved and the International Monetary Fund has been informed about moving forward properly.
