Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said that many people are hoping that Ranil Wickremesinghe will come forward as a candidate in the upcoming presidential election. He made this statement while attending a press conference held at the Presidential Media Center yesterday (23).
He further stated that there is no problem in supporting the current President Ranil Wickremesinghe if he decides to run for office.
“No one in Pohottuwa has yet stated whether they will support Ranil Wickremesinghe in the next election or not. We are not making that public announcement. The reason is that the presidential election has not been officially announced. When the presidential election is announced, we will reveal our candidate. Some decisions he has made may not be popular, but the country has achieved a stable state based on the decisions made for its future. Ranil Wickremesinghe is the hope of many within our government.
