Former Member of Parliament Hirunika Premachandra, who was found guilty of abducting and wrongfully imprisoning a young man who worked in a shop in Dematagoda, was sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labor by the Colombo High Court.
Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja announced this decision today.
In December 2016, the police filed a complaint in the Colombo Magistrate’s Court against a group of suspects including Hirunika Premachandra for abducting a young man using their Defender car in the Dematagoda area. In relation to this incident, the Attorney General presented super charges in the Colombo High Court.
