Deputy Minister of Tourism, Professor Ruwan Ranasinghe, says that the target of 3 million tourist arrivals this year will not be reached due to the delay in the expansion of the passenger terminal at Katunayake Airport.
He further said that the airport had to cancel about 30 to 40 flights due to this issue, thus missing this target.
He said that the 2 million tourist arrivals in 2025 had crossed the 2 million mark on November 17, while the 2 million tourist arrivals in 2024 had crossed the 2 million mark on December 26.
