The National Livestock Development Board has initiated a program to sell grass required for cattle at a subsidized price.
Accordingly, a kilo of grass is sold to farmers engaged in cattle husbandry at fifteen rupees. The grass species sold in this way is sogam, and there is a huge demand for that type of grass from farmers engaged in cattle husbandry.
The board, which says that it costs Rs. 11 to produce this grass species, says that these are being cultivated in several farms belonging to the board.
In addition, steps have been taken to sell a grass species called Pavon for around Rs. 13 per kilo.
