Government reaches staff agreement with IMF .

A discussion was held between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and a delegation from the IMF at the Presidential Secretariat (06) on the progress of the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program agreed upon with the IMF.

The current government has already reached staff agreement after the third review of the $3 billion ECF provided to Sri Lanka under the program.

The findings of the review are scheduled to be presented to the IMF Board of Directors by the end of February this year. The progress in this regard and the government’s involvement in maintaining the program going forward were discussed here.

After receiving the approval of the IMF Executive Board, an amount of $333 million is scheduled to be released as the fourth installment of the ECF to Sri Lanka.

Harischandra, Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the President, Mahinda Siriwardena, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and a group of others participated in this event.
