Government members oppose rent increase in Madiwela housing complex

The MPs representing the NPP have opposed the increase in the rent of the MPs’ Madiwela housing complex in the House Committee of Parliament, says SJB MP Jagath Premalal.

Speaking to the media, he said that there was no opposition representation in the House Committee at that time. At present, the opposition has appointed representatives only to the Finance Committee and the Public Enterprises Committee. The Madiwela housing complex charges Rs. 2000 per month as rent for one house, and a proposal to increase it according to the current valuation was submitted and it was discussed after being presented to the House Committee of Parliament.
