The government has decided to restore the pension entitlements of officers who joined the public service after January 01, 2016. For this, the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government is to amend their appointment letters.
The official circular in this regard has already been issued by the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration, S. Aloka Bandara to all Ministry Secretaries, Provincial Chief Secretaries and Heads of Departments.
Under this new measure, the pension clause contained in the appointment letters of all officers recruited on or after January 01, 2016 will be updated.
With this amendment, all relevant officers will officially be entitled to pensions, and this revised clause is also to be included in the appointment letters of new officers recruited into the public service in the future
