The Supreme Court of Sri Lanka ruled that giving free marks to the three questions that appeared in the first question paper of the 2024 Grade Five Scholarship Examination is a violation of fundamental human rights.
Accordingly, the court further ordered the Commissioner General of Examinations to take forward one of the most appropriate recommendations made by the expert committee appointed to investigate the matter.
The court has also ordered that I.G.S. Premathilaka, who is suspected of being involved in the release of the question papers, should pay three million rupees and Chaminda Kumara Ilangasinghe two million rupees as compensation to the government.
