Galagoda Atte Gnanasara Thero was sentenced by the Colombo High Court to 4 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of one lakh rupees.
It is reported that Colombo High Court Judge Aditya Patabandige has given this decision by convicting Gnanasara Thero on both charges in a case brought against him by the Attorney General.
In 2016, the case was filed for causing harm to national and religious harmony by the statement made at a public press conference held in Colombo.
