Fuel consumption drops by 30%.

Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody said that fuel consumption in the country has decreased by about 30 percent. Accordingly, the Minister further said that the issuance of licenses for new fuel stations has also been suspended.

“There is a big saving in oil. To make it more meaningful, we are also introducing battery technology. Because we do not use it during the day. There are also problems now. If we want to save properly, we have to make storage batteries. That is when we have to save it and use it at night. In fact, then we can also save oil. Already, petroleum consumption has actually decreased by about 30% after 2019. As it decreases, more problems arise. Because there is no income for the sheds. There is no hire for the bowsers. When the fuel price decreases, such problems arise. We have now reduced the licensing of oil sheds. The licensing of the bowsers has also been suspended.”

He said this while addressing an event held in Batticaloa.
