Former Western Provincial Council MP Amal Silva has been arrested by the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit with 3 luxury vehicles worth Rs. 60 million that were registered using fake documents. It is reported that the three vehicles found in his possession belong to the Land Rover and Mitsubishi brands.
The suspect was arrested today (28) during a raid conducted based on a tip-off received by officers of the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit.
It is reported that these vehicles were registered under fake numbers by the Department of Motor Traffic using fake documents after being illegally brought into the country.
It has been revealed during preliminary investigations conducted by the police that these vehicles were registered under the registration numbers of vehicles belonging to government institutions, using fake documents. The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate tomorrow.
