Former Minister Prasanna’s foreign travel ban lifted .

Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama yesterday ordered the temporary relaxation of the foreign travel ban imposed on former Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, who is in court on a corruption charge.

When the case was taken up yesterday, President’s Counsel Anil Silva, who appeared for the former minister, requested the court to temporarily lift the existing ban as he needed to travel abroad for a personal matter.

Since the lawyers appearing for the Commission for the Prevention of Bribery and Corruption did not object, the Colombo Chief Magistrate, after considering the facts presented by both parties, ordered the temporary relaxation of the foreign travel ban on an additional personal bail of Rs. 1 million.
