The Kathmandu International Airport in Nepal, which was closed, has been reopened by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. At the same time, flights between Sri Lanka and Nepal, which were temporarily suspended, have resumed.
The first SriLankan flight departed from the Katunayake Airport this morning (11), said Deepal Perera, Head of Corporate Communications at SriLankan Airlines.
The flight is scheduled to land at the Kathmandu International Airport in Nepal at 11.41 this afternoon and the flight is scheduled to return to the Katunayake Airport at 04.40 in the afternoon, carrying passengers from the country.
SriLankan Airlines had taken steps to suspend flights between Sri Lanka and Nepal yesterday following the closure of the country’s international airport due to the ongoing conflict in Nepal.
