104 new ‘Metro’ buses imported to enhance the efficiency and quality of Sri Lanka’s public transport service arrived at the Colombo Port yesterday (29).
These buses have been manufactured by ‘Photon International Corporation’, a leading Chinese vehicle manufacturer. The agreement for the supply of these buses was signed in May this year. In accordance with the agreement, the first batch of 104 Metro buses has been brought to the island.
The government aims to transfer most of the urban transport opportunities in Sri Lanka to Metro buses, and another batch of Metro buses is scheduled to be brought to Sri Lanka in the future. These buses are scheduled to be put into public service soon after registration
