Even if Suresh Sale’s life is harmed, the government is responsible for it.

The National Organization Coalition requests the President to immediately produce Suresh Sale, the former Director of the State Intelligence Service, before issuing a detention order for the third time.

At a press conference called “Justice for Sale – Forum” held in Colombo, representatives of the organization stated that if any harm is caused to Suresh Sale’s life by his continued detention under detention orders, the government led by the President should accept responsibility.

Speaking at the event, National Organizations Alliance member lawyer Kalyananda Thiranagama said that there is no information about the illegal activity Suresh Sale has committed and there is no basis for his arrest.

He also pointed out that the detention order has been issued without any basis.

Speaking at the event, Sarvajana Balaya Vice President Anuradha Yahampath said,

“He has been in custody for six months now. He is in a very sick condition. We know that he was treated very cruelly when he became sick. Will the order to recruit him for the third time on the twenty-eighth still exist or not, show the people that the President is still taking revenge on the war hero? If so, the people will have to hold him accountable. Because the people have now realized that this is revenge for the war hero.”

Dr. Wasantha Bandara of the National Organizations Alliance, who spoke at the event, said,

“If he dies after being tortured while he is sick, the people of this country will not forgive him. Therefore, we are forcing our government to not be ready to take up the pen on the 28th. President Anura Dissanayake should immediately launch a separate investigation into this matter. We are requesting that this conspiracy be understood and he be released.”
