In line with the recommendations of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the current electricity tariff revision, which is done every six months, is likely to be changed in the future, according to the report.
Accordingly, the government is considering revising electricity bills every three months instead of every six months, says Secretary to the Ministry of Energy, Professor Udayanga Hemapala.
He further said that the Ministry of Energy is shifting to a cost-reflective electricity tariff system with the aim of eliminating the financial losses of the Electricity Board.
