The Court of Appeal today (11) ordered the lifting of the interim injunction that had been imposed preventing the holding of local government elections on 6th May for 18 local government institutions including the Colombo Municipal Council.
The Court of Appeal made this announcement while issuing an order to re-accept the rejected nomination papers submitted for the said local government institutions.
The order was issued by a bench of judges comprising Acting President of the Court of Appeal, Mohamed Lafar Tahir and Priyantha Fernando, after considering a motion filed by the Attorney General.
