It has been alleged that a 17-year-old girl was raped by her elder sister’s boyfriend while she was alone at home.
The 25-year-old suspect, a resident of Walahanduwa, Akmeemana, works in a private company and is said to be in a romantic relationship with the girl’s elder sister.
On the day of the incident, he had gone to her house and left with her elder sister, and returned a short time later on the pretext that he had forgotten his mobile phone charger.
It has been alleged that the younger sister, who was alone at home at the time, had been raped.
The police have initiated investigations, arrested the suspect and produced the victim girl before the Judicial Medical Officer of the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.
The suspect has been produced before the Galle Magistrate and remanded.
A police team under the Women and Children’s Bureau of the Galle Police OIC is conducting further investigations.
